From Argentine Asado to Japanese Hibachi: A Love Story

Hi, I'm Marcos, founder of Fuku Labs. Let me tell you how a kid who grew up around Argentine asados ended up handcrafting Japanese hibachi grills in Buenos Aires.

I've loved grilling since I was a child. There's something magical about charcoal—the flavor it gives is absolutely incredible. Growing up in Argentina, asado was in my blood. But everything changed when I first discovered hibachi grills online. I had to try one.

There was just one problem: you couldn't find a single hibachi in all of Argentina.

The Moment Everything Changed

So I did what any obsessed person would do—I took ironworking classes. Four months later, I had built my first hibachi prototype. Then came the moment that changed my life: I grilled a trout on handmade skewers, brushed with a garlic spice sauce.

I couldn't believe it. Without being a professional chef, I had created flavors I'd never experienced before. It was a revelation—correctly made products on a hibachi are a flavor explosion. That simple trout showed me what I wanted to do with my life.

In 2021, I left my corporate accounting job and opened my own workshop. My family thought I was crazy. Maybe I was. But sometimes you have to follow your passion.

Handcrafted with Love in Buenos Aires

Today, our workshop in Buenos Aires is home to 10 passionate craftspeople who share my obsession with quality. We produce 30-40 hibachis per month—small batches where every single grill matters.

We build every hibachi like it's going to our own home. Each unit is fully assembled and tested, adjusted until it's just right. They're not perfect in that mass-produced way—they're better. They have soul. They have love.

Our firebrick base combined with iron creates the perfect high-temperature cooking environment. It's this combination that lets you achieve restaurant-quality results in your backyard.

More Than Just Grills

What excites me most about being a small, handmade operation is our freedom to innovate. When we have an idea for a new accessory, we make a small batch and see how people love it. No committees, no corporate approval—just passion for better grilling.

Our yakitori bars with skewers? Game changer. Want to make Korean BBQ? We've got a special top for that. Need to sear a steak like a chef? Our plancha has you covered. The versatility of hibachi cooking still amazes me every day.

Mass production companies can't match this diversity. They can't pivot quickly when inspiration strikes. But we can, and we do.

Why We Do This

Every time I grill salmon or trout on my hibachi (still my favorites), I remember why I started Fuku Labs. It's not just about selling grills—it's about sharing that moment of discovery I had. That moment when you realize you can create extraordinary flavors without being a professional chef.

When you cook on a Fuku Labs hibachi, you're not just making dinner. You're joining a journey that started with an Argentine who fell in love with Japanese grilling technique and decided to bring that magic to the Americas.

Our hibachis aren't perfect in that factory-perfect way. But they're handmade with care, tested with love, and designed to give you those same flavor explosions that changed my life.

Welcome to Fuku Labs. Let's create something delicious together.
